New Delhi:- Farmers can now increase their income by making animal husbandry along with farming. Not only this, unemployed youth of the village in India can also earn good money by doing animal husbandry. Actually, financial assistance is provided from the government for the rearing of milch animals like cow, buffalo, goats etc. Apart from this, the government also gives subsidies for building houses and therefore sheds them. There is also a provision to give grants for building sheds for goats, pigs and poultry. Under MNREGA scheme, the beneficiary gets a subsidy for the construction of an animal house or animal shed. This subsidy can be up to Rs 1.60 lakh. If you also do animal husbandry and want to build a house or shed for animals, then you can apply online for it under MNREGA scheme and get the benefit of grant or subsidy.

How much subsidy is available for animal sheds under MGNREGA?

If you are applying under MGNREGA with 3 animals, a subsidy or grant of Rs 60 thousand to Rs 80 thousand is given. Whereas for 4 animals, the beneficiary can get a grant of Rs 1 lakh 16 thousand and if there are more than four animals, the beneficiary can get a grant of Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand.To get financial assistance or subsidies under MNREGA, a cattle rearer must have at least three animals.

Who can avail subsidy under MNREGA? 

Under the MGNREGA scheme, animal husbandry is being encouraged with the aim of encouraging youth and animal farmers in rural areas for self-employment. For this, apart from purchasing animals, they are provided the benefit of subsidy for building animal shed under MNREGA. For this, it is necessary for the cattle rearer to have a MNREGA job card. All categories of cattle rearers can apply under the scheme.However, under this scheme, all priority is given to cattle herders belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category. Under this scheme, an animal shelter or shed will be constructed on the private land of the cattle rearer. That is, those cattle farmers who want to build animal sheds under MGNREGA are required to have their own land.Apart from this, the cattle rearer should be a native of the state.

What documents will be required to apply for an animal shed? 

If you are a cattle farmer and want to apply for an animal shed (Pashuavaas) under MNREGA, then you can avail the benefit of a grant to build an animal shed by applying under this scheme. The documents you will need to apply under the scheme are as follows – 

Aadhaar card of the animal husbandry farmer applying NREGA job card of the applicant 

Permanent residence certificate of the applicant

Applicant's bank account passbook

Passport size photo of the applicant 

Registered mobile number of the applicant which is linked to Aadhaar
